Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives!

In earlier times, society was very unstable. Due to the atrocities of foreign invaders, society was oppressed and insecure. At such times, saints realized the need to stabilize society, make people aware of the injustices they were facing, and enlighten them that their security lay in being united as a community. Therefore, with the aim of uniting people from all walks of life and eradicating inequality, the saints initiated the pilgrimage to Pandharpur with the foundation of Vithumauli.

Before Ashadhi Ekadashi, the Warkari processions (Dindi) start from Dehu and Alandi and proceed towards Pandharpur. Thousands of Warkaris undertake this pilgrimage to Pandharpur year after year. Accompanied by the sandals (Paduka) of Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli and Sant Tukaram Maharaj, the flood of Warkaris, immersed in devotional fervor, heads towards Pandharpur with a longing for the darshan of Vitthoba Rakhumai. People from all strata of society forget their differences and march to Pandharpur in a disciplined manner. The Palakhi tradition, which is 1000 years old, is followed by the Warkaris, who uphold the custom of Wari. In these processions, groups of Warkaris come together, singing, dancing, and chanting the names of Dnyanoba and Tukaram, celebrating this grand festival.
